This set of ATCs from Jodie Hurt shows a consistant style, and a construction method that can be broken into definite layers: background text, vivid color, transluscent overlay of pattern and/or numbers, black and white focal image. It’s a formula that really works!

After seeing the Kara Walker exhibit this week, I’m suddenly aware of artwork that uses silhouettes. These collages by Virginia Rose Kane use the outlines of various plants, but on closer inspection, they’re collaged with all sorts of images and ephemera.
