Site Issues

Having trouble with this site? Maybe the answers to these questions will help.

I’ve emailed you 500 times for help. Why didn’t you answer?

This is a free web site. No support is offered for any of its features. No emails asking for help with the site will be answered—if you want to use this site, you’ll have to work it out on your own.

Do I have to register to use Go Make Something?

Currently, no registration is required to use Go Make Something. The registration system that I used on the previous version of the site has been removed.

Why don’t my comments appear when I post them?

Comments are moderated, because too many people have tried to post stuff here that isn’t really appropriate.

If your comment is relevant to the article on which you’re commenting, and isn’t ridiculously long, it will probably appear the next time I clear the moderation queue.

If your comment is long, rambling, or isn’t related to the article to which it’s posted, chances are it will simply be deleted.

I also delete comments that are all about you, rather than about the article. If you have ideas on how to make things that are different than mine, or stories about something you made that isn’t from my instructions, feel free to post them on your own site or blog. Please do not post your life story as a comment.

Why are you always harping about people not leaving comments?

Because it disturbs me that whenever I post a new article, over 5,000 people read it in the first week it appears on the site—but only 5 will leave a comment about it. I mean, if you read something, don’t you generally have some sort of reaction to it? Or want to say thanks for posting it? Or want to tell how you’ve used that same technique in the past?

Honestly, it’s like I’m writing articles to myself. If I didn’t have the little number tracker doing its job, I wouldn’t have any idea that anyone had visited. That’s a very lonely feeling…

I posted a comment asking you to email me. Why haven’t you?

Comments that you leave on this site do not come to me via email. The go into a moderation queue that I can see in my WordPress dashboard. They are not connected in any way to my email.

I do not email people who demand that I do so by posting comments on the site. Comments are just that—comments. They exist so you can leave a few thoughts about an article you’ve just read. They are not a way to contact me. In general, I delete any comment that asks me to email back.
