Message in a Bottle: Closed

I’ve closed sign-ups for Message in a Bottle, and at this point, I don’t know when, or even if, I’ll reopen them.

I am discouraged by the large number of people who signed up, received a bottle, and have not sent any out in return. For every person who has done this, three people have not received bottles—because each bottle you receive contains the addresses of three other people. Ignoring those three addresses and not sending them forward is just plain selfish.

If you’ve received a bottle in this project, and haven’t sent any in return, you are the reason it has stalled, and I am sorely disappointed in you for taking without giving anything back.

Watch the Calendar

October 26th, 2008

Don’t forget: in order to participate in Message in a Bottle, you must commit to sending out two bottles within receiving one. It’s very important that you get those bottles into the mail in a timely manner. Each bottle you receive contains the addresses of three other people who are waiting on you to do your part!

Mail Delinquents

October 6th, 2008

This morning, I sent an email out to 16 people who received a bottle from the Message in a Bottle project in September, and have not sent out anything in return.

Please don’t make me do this. I don’t want to chase people down and badger them into fulfilling their project commitments.

If you receive a bottle, you must send out two in return within two weeks. If you can’t do that, don’t sign up.

If you are in need of extra addresses to include in your Message in a Bottle mailings, please EMAIL me at lisavollrath at yahoo dot com. Do not leave a comment on a random post asking for addresses. These comments are being deleted without response.

If you receive a bottle that contains the incorrect number of addresses, EMAIL me at lisavollrath at yahoo dot com. Do not post a comment on a random post expressing your panic and confusion. These comments are also being deleted without response.

Cut It Out!

This morning, I received THREE sign-ups from someone who has already signed up for Message in a Bottle, indicating that she hadn’t received a bottle yet.

Here’s the deal: you can only sign up through me ONCE. I am deleting duplicate sign-ups.

Sign up once. Then WAIT.

You have a 1 in 4 chance of getting a bottle directly from me—for every one I send out, I include three other addresses inside. Two of those three people included will receive a bottle from the person who gets one from me. One of those people will have her address labels included in the two bottles being sent out by that person.

Attempting to sign up again will not speed the mailing time. It will not get you a bottle sooner. Cut it out!
